Porcelain cup and saucer decorated with cobalt painting. The bell-shaped cup with a broken-scroll handle is painted with chrysanthemum flowers, rock formations and grass, and features a decorative band around the inside rim. A large chrysanthemum with scrolls and flowering lotuses with buds and insects adorn the inside of the saucer. Believed to be the work of Johann David Kretzschmar, who was a cobalt painter at the Meissen porcelain manufactory from 1726 to 1752 and who signed his work with a blue “K”.
